What CADspan Does Not Do

CADSpan does not yet offset thin surfaces to make them thicker. Zero-thickness objects like a wall that is drawn as a single face will not be thickened by CADspan and will cause problems in the 3D printing process.

CADSpan does perform gap filling so small areas between surfaces are automatically surfaced, however if the model contains holes that are large relative to the size of the overall model, the resurfacing will fail. While the degree of gap filling is user selectable, the program is not able to determine the user’s design intent. Typically areas that cause problems in this regard are models without a bottom, a large hole in place of a door or window, or other large openings.

CADSpan does not yet provide scale, offset, or other build setup type features, and may be best used in conjunction with one of the stl editing offerings on the market today. Look for this functionalilty to be added to CADspan Pro in the near future.

See the next section, user responsibility, to learn about what steps the user must take to prepare a model for successful resurfacing.
